Energy Awareness as A Yoga Teacher

Energy Awareness as A Yoga Teacher

Every moment begins with the very same process, every meditation, every class, every moment of life itself begins and ends with the very same processes of Inhalation and Exhalation. This process of breathing is the process of life itself moving through us as prana and apana, lifeforce flows from the breath of the universe breathing through us, the light of prana on the inhalation and the density of apana on the exhalation, the energy of lifeforce itself ignites the inner energies of our being from individual self to soul self the apana of all dimensions and timelines are being released with each exhale. When we practice yoga we are innately cultivating a connection with the subtle energies of the body, mind and spirit with the gross energies of the very same and the energies of the universe itself. The goal of spiritual practice is unity with all of self, all of source, all of the I with all that Is. As practitioners and teachers of ancient practices which stem from worlds with much greater and deeper awareness of the flow of consciousness itself, it is important to cultivate an awareness of one’s inner spirit with the light and dark of “the all that is”.

How does one relate to the all and how do these practices resonate through us into the subtle vibrations and energies of existence?

All matter is energy, more than 70% of the universe is made of space, more than 70% of your body is made of water, as is the earth, as is life itself ever flowing in divinely organised fractal ratios. The basic elements of existence become combined to make bodies throughout all of the universe. Whether the body is humanoid, animal, planetary or celestial, many similar energetic and mathematical ratios exist within every body of existence, from prakriti to purusha, jiva atma to param atma, as above so below and so be it. The elements at play are Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether(spirit), the binding energies of these basic universal elements are Prana and Apana in yogic or vedic tradition, also governed by the principles of the gunas; Sattva, Rajas,Tamas, truth/light, regality/richness, darkness/decay. Everything that exists moves through an inhalation and exhalation, the one long inhale and exhale is the life itself, the breaths in between are to sustain that life, the last exhale is to destroy that life and create transition. We are all built of these relative energies and our consciousness relegates or elevates these principles and elements within us no matter what the circumstance.

In life we are faced with thoughts, emotions, circumstance and choices, each of these situations contains an energy and a relative vibration, it may be true, rich or dark. To look at the energies at play within us and all people with true awareness is to be totally objective, we will not choose to say that the any of these principles is good or bad, however polarized to negative or positive/ heavy or light, our objective is to look as an observer at what is present in the moment. Each moment in the now is connected to every moment ever moved through, when we step onto our mats or sit in a meditative seat, we are opening ourselves up to the Yoga with all that is. This unity with heightened energies is immediate through the connection to the practice which has roots well beyond our bodies and for many of us, these ancient teachings have roots in our souls.

This natural rooting of ancient energies is what ignites the process of great transformation which can take place from conscious and intentional breathing, paired with movement and visualisation. When we take our practice or teaching space from movement and breath, to movement, breath and devotion we catalyze a reaction of spiritual energy from the astral realms which seeks to converge with the seeker. Throughout time practitioners of yoga, devotional rites, meditation, mantra japa, puja or offerings, agni or fire worship, have sensed and received information from beyond the veil and from many different realms.

Scholars who have gone very deep into their practices have encountered energy forms which later took on personages or incarnations especially within the hindu teachings which most modern day yoga is heavily influenced from. You may be familiar with beings like Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu, Shakti and Ganesh, these are all part of the unseen realms, made real through consciousness devoting intention to transition their energies into these realms at one time. Across the world meditation, medicinal plants, psychic abilities and forms of music, dance and movement have opened the sight to the realms beyond our density of physical existence and through these discoveries we have encountered, faeries, star people, elves, wizards, extra terrestrial, devas, devis, dragons, nymphs, merpeople and so many more; all across the planet we see the unseen realms have influenced our existence, creations, arts and activities. The power of these energy forms was sensed from the astral realms, given a name or form and sometimes many and offered a way to devote to the energy in order to receive more teachings and blessings from what was sought and sensed.

Evidence of divine teachers has crossed the globe for thousands of years mixed into mythology as well as legends, we have seen many intense examples of magic, spiritual powers, prophets and carriers of the word of divine. As a yoga teacher, whether you mean to or not, you are tapping into unseen worlds and those unseen worlds are tapping into you. The energies of tamas or darkness are part of these realms. Tamas is part of us and the more our consciousness or physical bodies’ are tied into those vibrations the more vulnerable we can become to the draining of our pranic body from these tamas energies/ energies of the shadow realms; whether personified, embodied, disembodied or circumstantial. Yogic techniques, meditation, pranayama, devotional rites and offerings, spiritual practices, mantra, spells, invocations, divine concentration and connection, honoring of our ancestors, awareness of our thoughts words and actions all are and do provide tools for the expansion and protection of our energy bodies as we do the work of embodying the divine nature of who we really are.

The importance of this article is not to confuse you with all the different forms of energy at play especially since what has been laid out above is just a brief taste or tip of the iceberg of the energetic forces and realms at play when one becomes a spiritual devotee or practitioner. When you step into sharing the power of yoga as a teacher and guide you are stepping into thousands of years of energy work which has crossed the earth from east to west, north and south. The energies accessed through yoga have been accessed through many different techniques across the world which have many parallel forms of learning and catalyzation of the soul spark within each of us to unite with the source of all that is.

Within the empowered process of this energetic action/reaction we are chemically activated to begin our ascension process and our Divine DNA is sparked into reconfiguration/recalibration. We are naturally divine beings, we are naturally beyond our awareness and the process of tuning our awareness is to become fully connected to all that we are, body, mind spirit and energy body united in divine loving awareness. As one who is involved in the process of awakening and sharing the teachings for awareness we are called to devote even more time to our spiritual practice in order to fortify the aura and become a stronger beacon of light, love and compassion on the earth. For this to flow and function fully we will be faced with the inner conflict of what is not light in the being. This means that whatever one has held onto or is holding onto will come up for release, removal and replenishment. It is really helpful, perhaps even necessary to have some extra tools of awareness that you can use for clearing yourself, a space, your students, your aura, your mind, body, spirit and karma. Cleansing and purification are absolutely necessary pieces of our spiritual integrity and process as channels or vessels of divine information. We are responsible for holding space for others and that responsibility requires commitment to keeping the self clear on all levels.

  • A daily practice of meditation and visualisation is key.

  • Some sort of daily practice of cleansing the body is key.

  • Making daily steps to be aware of the energies one is absorbing and moving through is key.

By activating your own third eye and energy awareness you can bring greater healing and transformation to your students by sensing and seeing what they are going through. When you bring your awareness to the stuck energy and guide the practitioner to move through it you transmute it from the person and space and do not get left behind with anything that does not belong to you.

Check in with yourself and commit to letting go of any energies that are not yours and any energies that are no longer serving you. If you feel stuck or notice you are getting drained or bombarded with emotional energies from your classes and space holding, seek help! Find some resources to learn about healing spiritual practices aside from yoga, find an intuitive or an energy worker to help you hone in on the stuck energies and focus on removing them, look deeply within yourself and ask, am I able to bring clarity to this energy on my own or could I use some assistance?

SUPPORT YOURSELF

Perhaps learning some energy healing techniques yourself would be useful, maybe learning to give yourself a little healing ceremony or remembering to pray to your own higher power and the ancestors of the land. This is one earth and one global family of love, we all have our roles to play and if you have already chosen to act as a guide in this world, it is important to be prepared for the influx and intensity of transformational energies on their way through the cosmos and our earth at this time.

Are you prepared? Are you ready?

Do you have the tools you need to navigate the spirit realms? Would you like to find out more?
